Mark's Pickleball
Survival Story

Quick Thinking on the Court

During a lively pickleball game at the South Sound club, Mark Lewis suddenly dropped to the ground. It wasn’t a stumble — Mark had gone into full cardiac arrest. Players nearby didn’t panic.

One ran for the club’s AED. Another started chest compressions.

Within minutes, the AED was attached, and the machine delivered a shock. By the time paramedics arrived, Mark was breathing again. “I had no warning,” Mark shared afterward. “One second I was playing, the next I was waking up in the hospital. That AED gave me my life back.” Mark is now fully recovered and actively encourages all sports clubs in Cayman to install and maintain AEDs.
